The Landlady
In The Landlady, Roald Dahl, one of the world's favourite authors, tells a sinister story about the darker side of human nature. Here, a young man in need of room meets a most accommodating landlady...
The Landlady is taken from the short story collection Kiss Kiss, which includes ten other devious and shocking stories, featuring the wife who pawns the mink coat from her lover with unexpected results; the priceless piece of furniture that is the subject of a deceitful bargain; a wronged woman taking revenge on her dead husband, and others.
Short and sweet creepy story.
Well, you may have guessed, I'm selectively reading a book of short stories by various authors. I thought I'd have a little sip of Roald Dahl. Believe it or not, this is my first ever ...anything... by R. Dahl. A story about a B&B with a strange landlady: okay, that bit's interesting. Her previous guests were few and far between, and - gone missing! Crap ending means I took off two stars. In fact... if you're considering reading a Roald Dahl, find another of his books, because his writing

Confession: I read this 12 page short story today just to make my newest Jason Starr last longer. I love Roald Dahl and generally think his writing is brilliant. I feel like this could've been great but instead read like the outline of an undeveloped story.Shame.
Creepy short story about a woman who runs a cozy bed and breakfast.
This Roald Dahl short story was again really good! He manages to make it super creepy but in a very subtle way. The ending is left open (a bit too open for my taste), but it lets your imagination run wild on what happened to Mr Weaver.
- My opinion about the story is that how it was a enjoyable story and it got very interesting was it got to the middle of the story.- Summary: Billy found a book on top of the piano and found two names. He thought he had heard them from the news or something. As Billy and the landlady talked about it.- My favourite part was when Billy had found the book on top of the piano.- I think they should read because it sounds interesting and find out what happens to Billy and the two men.
