Landfall (The Guardian Herd #3)
It has been many moons since Star received his starfire power. And now he will face his toughest challenge yet. Star is gravely injured, and Nightwing the Destroyer vows to make a pact with whoever brings him the black yearling—dead or alive. As Nightwing amasses an army to destroy him and all of Anok, Star must act fast. The only way for Star to defeat him is to learn how to fight like a warrior—without using his starfire.
As the threat of war looms, Star wonders if the current peace among the united pegasi is strong enough to survive.
Fantastic book - big cliff hanger ending though!
LANDFALL is a beautifully written novel that is full of action and emotion. While it is sure to capture the attention of the authors middle grade audience, dont be surprised when their parents/guardians also become engrossed in the story. I have already recommended this novel to family members and family friends. Its the perfect addition to Alvarezs wonderful Guardian Herd series.

This was exciting, especially since Star wasn't always the major player in this. Again, so dark, but you do really care about the characters. I probably could do without the love triangle thing and it would be sort of nice to see a little more dimension in Nightwing, but none of these things kept me from reading it voraciously and I'm happily going on to the next volume Love this series!
I can't tell you how proud I am of Jennifer Alvarez! It seems like each book I read from her has improved drastically over the previous one. Her skills as a writer are increasing quite well over time. Many issues I had with the plot of the first two books in this series are greatly improved in this one. The writer has solved the issue of the main character's magical healing ability taking any and all drama out of the story by making it so that Star can't use his healing for a majority of the
