Explanation Concering Books Holy Bible, NIV

The Bible gets five stars without any explanation. Who am I to offer a critique. I couldn't say, "Not the Spirit's best work." The newest version of NIV is still growing on me however.

A friend and mentor once said that if all Scripture is God breathed and inspired, then he would read it each year to hear God in all of Scripture. Noble goal, and I have seldom followed through with his aim. But I have read the Bible cover to cover (Scripture, Table of Weights and Maps) maybe ten times. I think it is important to know the shape and trajectory of the Biblical narrative. I have read the Bible through in the NIV (1984), NLT, NASB, TNIV, NRSV and now the NIV (2011). Reading a translation through helps you also appreciate it more (I thought the NLT was hokey until I read it through a couple of times). Obviously this NIV is similar to its predecessors (Old NIV and TNIV).

My trek through this time was with the aid of a reading program in my Logos Bible software. I set up a weekday plan (Monday through Friday). The result was that I spent most of the year ahead of schedule, but bogged down in my November reading of Jeremiah and had to do a mad dash at the end. I finished the minor prophets and the entire book of Revelation on New Years Eve, but made it. Another star in my crown? Probably not, but I know which parts of the Bible I ought to read slower. . .

Crit About Books Holy Bible, NIV
Reading the Bible is always a pleasure! No matter the versus I hide in my heart and the stories I feel I know so well, rereading the Bible always fills me with a sense of wonder and gratitude for how much God loves me!

Daily reading with the Kindle Paperwhite

I was sitting in church several months back and something the minister said struck with me: "The Bible: The most owned, least read book in the world." I thought about it and she was right. Over the years I've read much of the Bible in Sunday School and various Bible Studies but realized I'd never read it cover to cover. If I'm going to devote my eternal soul to something, shouldn't I at least give it ONE read through? So that was that. But saying you're going to read the Bible and doing it are

Daily regular readings to refresh my spirit and soul.

This is the greatest book I have ever read. Strike that. This is the greatest book ever written. With that said, this is not a review of the Bible. After all, what right can I possibly have to review the Bible? No, the way this really works is that I let the Bible review me. How deeply am I hiding it in my heart? How closely am I following its precepts? Unfortunately, there is no way that I could rate myself anywhere close to 5 stars. Yes, I am growing, but I've still got a long ways to go.This

BibleThe most important book in the world. Very easy to understand, and something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
