In this age of equality of sexes it is refreshing to glimpse at an age when chivalry wasnt the exception but the rule. Sherrilyn Kenyon, writing under the pseudonym of Kinley MacGregor has created a highly readable and entertaining work of medieval life and rivalry. Lochlan MacAllister, head of a Scottish clan, embarks on a quest to find his lost brother. Kieran MacAllister disappeared and was presumed dead after being jilted by his betrothed but new information gave credence to the possibilityOkay, let me say that I love this series, and was really excited about Lochlan's book. It was good for the most part, but the ending was horrible. I really hope this isn't the beginning of her mixing the series with the dark hunters. I love her dark hunters and I love her historicals, but not together. It was really cheap and wrong for her to do that to her readers.
I would have absolutely no complaints about this book until the very very end of the story... the climactic ending just wasn't convincing for me.
The Warrior is the last installment in the Brotherhood/MacAllister series and I must say she made sure this series went out with a bang. Lochlan MacAllister is the Laird of his clan and with all his brothers married with children he realises he is the only one who can find his brother Kieren who was presumed dead for years. Lochlan sets out on his quest and finds himself in France where he runs into his sister-in-laws cousin Catarina. Cat is a free spirit who wants to live her life on her terms
This is my first book by this author. I had heard of MacGregor before, so when I saw this at Borders for $3.99 I snapped it up.figured I couldnt beat that plus I had a coupon so it came out even cheaper. Unfortunately, at the time of purchase I didnt know that this was #7 in the series. By then it was too late and I figured I tried to read it as a standalone. I was lost for the beginning of the book, because of course characters from previous books made an appearance and there were references
This story didn't have me hooked as others I've read, but it did get better as it went on. I've read some reviews that dogged the epilogue. I didn't hate it, but it did seem slightly misplaced. The love story was decent and the bit with the king at the end was good; definitely helped to lodge this story firmly at a 3.
I'd been dying to read Lochlan MacAllister's story since Taming the Scotsman, so I was "predisposed" to like The Warrior even though I'd been a bit disappointed with the previous 2 books in this series. Everything went well and I quite enjoyed this read... up until the very end, when things got very, very strange...The Warrior is the latest installment in the MacAllister and Brotherhood of the Sword series and, although it can be read as a standalone, I don't recommend it because Ms. MacGregor
