Commentary About Books Omensent: Birth of a Dragon Lord (Dragon Lord #1)
I initially read the sample of this book and was intrigued enough to buy the complete copy. Barry has created a world that is easy to get pulled into, is vividly described and very well presented. A must-read for fans of classic fantasy work.

The back of the book blurb made this book sound like a very grand adventure. Instead, I found that although there is adventure, it is not well written. It leaves a lot to the imagination. And the idea that a 13 year old is over seven feet tall and falls in love with a 150-plus year old elf is a little disgusting. I am very disappointed in this book (made it exactly half way through before giving it up). Now I have to get rid of the whole Omensent series that I have downloaded onto my Kindle. smh

I hesitate to write a negative review but I bought this book based off the glowing reviews I read here on goodreads and on amazon and so feel I need to balance things out a little. This book is a really weak fantasy that feels as if it has been dreamt up by a teenager who skipped the majority of his English language classes. In fact the only part of this book that isn't completely by the numbers is the awful level of English used to describe the action. I would give this book 1 star but for some

Didacts & Narpets reviewed Omensent (Birth of a Dragon Lord)Refreshing Fantasy Novel February 4, 2012Barry Gibbons creates a refreshing perspective on the typical fantasy story. He brings new light to a genre that has seen its days of darkness. He creates characters that are imperfect by nature, which grow and shine as they battle and conquer personal fears and flaws. An enjoyable read with an inherent knowledge base of arcane lore.I initially read the sample of this book and was intrigued enough to buy the complete copy.
